Power felt will let you charge your devices by walking around

As technology grows more and more advanced, so too does its need for power. Unfortunately for us, batteries haven’t advanced all that much. Not as much as other technology has, at least. Phones used to be able to last for days between charges. Now, even (or perhaps especially) the best smartphones and computer tablets run out of juice in a matter of hours. We may very well see a solution to this problem in the near future, though, but not in a way you’d think. Instead of designing a new battery, a nanotechnologist named David Carroll and his research group at Wake Forest University has designed…

If Redditors built a house

If Redditors built a house

At the end of the day, the motives are pretty transparent. The marketing department at Movoto heard that Reddit could send mad traffic to their website so they commissioned an infographic to be built that could incorporate their topic, real estate, into a visual representation that could go viral on the site. It’s unclear whether the ploy was successful, but the end result, the infographic itself, was actually pretty nicely done. It was limited in detail – would have loved to see more of the must have innovations Redditors dreamed of for their no-limits house – but overall it was a pretty strong…

Neil deGrasse Tyson isn't just a scientist. He's a philosopher as well. About doilies.

We all knew that astrophysicist Neil deGrass Tyson was an intelligent and witty man of science, an advocate for space and scientific exploration, and a generally entertaining guy, but we didn’t know that he had a philosopher’s soul. Mark Zuckerberg will never step down

As Facebook’s stock continues to plummet, more investors are calling for CEO Mark Zuckerberg to step down. They say he is a smart man who built an incredible service and grew it to an unprecedented size for social networks but that he’s not qualified to take the company to the next level (or maintain it at its current level). They say he just isn’t the right person to be running a public company. They say his intentions are not aligned with the needs of the investors the way a CEO should be thinking. Mark Zuckerberg would agree. “There are people who are really good managers, people who can manage a big…

In defense of Business Insider...

It’s like clockwork. When anyone gets a payday, there are those who will express dissatisfaction with one thing or another that they’re doing to cheat the system, hurt the little guy, or kill innocent animals. Clockwork. Disclosure: I am an unpaid and (very) occasional contributor for Business Insider. Even if I were not, I would still defend them against the horde. First and foremost, everyone is right. Business Insider has made a killing by taking advantage of a system that is designed to reward content aggregation more than hard-hitting journalism. In the world of journalism, it’s an unfair…
