8-bit Donkey Kong art brings modern pop culture to the barrel-throwing gaming icon

When the discussion of archaic, iconic games hits any group of young geeks or old nerds, the topic often turns towards PAC-MAN, Space Invaders, Pong, or Frogger. Invariably, depending on how long the conversation lasts, someone brings up one of the other classics that many often forget because it is one of the only ones with a popular series of continuations in modern gaming: Donkey Kong. Artist Baznet created an amazing series of 8-bit images that put characters like Luke Skywalker and Indiana Jones into the game. Come On, Cranky - Take It To The Fridge!

Donkey Kong Country Returns comes out in two months, and as a hardcore fan of the franchise (Country in particular, not DK in general) I am tickled completely undiscovered shades of pink. Now, my understanding of Japanese is limited to sporadic dickings around with Translation Party, but thankfully, Nintendo3DSblog has gone to the trouble of doing the dirty work for the rest of us: On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards. The tweet…

Pixelated Characters Take Over The World!

Pixelated Characters Take Over The World!

Mama always said video games were going to ruin the next generation – and now look what’s happened! In this delightful short film by One More Productions, a cloud of pixels is released from a old rundown TV and form into a series of well-known video game icons and characters. As if you needed to ask, they then proceed to then wreak  a great deal of highly enjoyable havoc. What’s worse, they turn half the things they touch into more pixels! Disaster! If you have even the slightest sense of nostalgia for the video games of your youth, you will probably love this video. [Source: Geek Sugar]…
