Android wins the size battle… for now

Android wins the size battle… for now

I have always taken pride in my HTCphone having a bigger screen than the iPhone. That is one of the few perks Android users have on avid iPhone users. Sorry Apple, but I love my androids; they haven’t steered my wrong yet. Except that one time when I threw my phone across the room. Note to self: put the phone down slowly after receiving a frustrating phone call. I feel bad for iPhone users; every time they purchase a new phone, a newer and better one comes out. I don’t mean to bash the iPhone, the service is good and often works when my 4G decides to take a five hour break. But really?! You’re killing me!…

HTC Thunderbolt Strikes March 17, Brings LTE To Verizon Customers

The first LTE-enabled Verizon phone is official. The HTC Thunderbolt will strike Verizon Wireless stores on March 17 for $249.99 on a two-year contract. This phone marks the next evolution of mobile network technology for America’s most popular mobile carrier. Thunderbolt is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 2.2. It has a 4.3″ WVGA screen, an 8 Megapixel rear-facing camera, and 1.3 Megapixel forward-facing chat camera, 8GB of onboard storage and support for microSD cards up to 32 GB. But the biggest draw of this phone is the support for Verizon’s 4G/LTE network. While…

Full Specs And Brief Video Of The HTC Mozart Leaks

A video has appeared on YouTube showing the upcoming HTC Mozart being paired with a Nokia Bluetooth headset. The video also shows the full specs of the device, listed as a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250, 512mb + 8GB ROM, 576mb RAM, 3.7″ WVGA Super LCD screen and 8mp CMOS camera. The Windows Phone 7 interface looks slick, clean and smart in this very brief display. Menus rely heavily on 3D transforms, with touch playing a large part in the manipulation of on-screen objects. WP7 is due for release in Europe in October and North America in November. HTC appears to be leading the market in non-iPhone multitouch…

HTC's Customized Windows Phone 7 Interface

A video has appeared on YouTube that appears to show HTC’s customized UI for Microsoft’s upcoming mobile OS. Windows Phone Series 7, now Windows Phone 7, now coming to be known as WP7 is due to hit the streets in the near future, and this video appears to show a WP7 phone with several new apps and UI touches. The apps include 3D notes that fly off the screen and a cute “love me, love me not” animated app. The video, first spotted by mobilitydigest.com, is not official, but features the words ‘HTC confidential’ at the bottom, and one tile on the home screen of the phone shows the HTC Portal….

iOS4 'Clone' Running On An HTC Device Performs Like You Might Expect: Garbage

Something bizarre, real quick – it seems someone big on time and short on things to do has decided to ‘clone’ iOS4 to an HTC device, and the video here is the result. Unfortunately, not much info on this, except that it’s Chinese, and appears to be slow as hell – at least as slow as iOS4 running on an iPhone 3G. But like I said last week, it’s not how well the pig dances, but that it dances at all. It’s pretty surreal to see iOS running on another device, isn’t it?…

Techi Reviews the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint

Techi Reviews the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint's Network

The HTC EVO 4G is one of few in a lineup of “superphones” that have hit the market recently with Android power behind it. But the EVO might just be the best of them all. So is this powerhouse by HTC the best phone that money can buy today? Well, you’ll have to read our review to find out! Let’s kickstart this review with a bit of a shocker: this is the time in my life when I have actually said “wow” out loud from a first impression (and I am somewhat hard to impress). Soon after first experiencing this phone, I quickly realized that the EVO is what the future of mobile phones should look like, feel like,…

Nexus One Found Dead at Six Months

Nexus One Found Dead at Six Months

Did you ever get a look at the Nexus One? I remember, back in The Day, I was even going to champion the Nexus when I moved up to a smartphone. But it looks like I’ll never get my chance – Google’s discontinuing the Android-packing iPhone killer. According to ReadWriteWeb, Google only managed to sell 135 thousand phones in the same amount of time it took Apple to sell a million. That’s not an awful lot of phones. So Google’s calling it quits. Well, almost. “Customer support will still be available for current Nexus One customers,” says Google’s announcement. “And Nexus One will continue to be sold by partners…

Oh, Snap! Droid Incredible Sneaks Peeks at Your Web Adventures

Oh, Snap! Droid Incredible Sneaks Peeks at Your Web Adventures

Man, it’s like privacy snafus are the new wardrobe malfunction or something. Not to be outdone by other privacy stories in the news, it seems the HTC Incredible’s Sense UI has got a nasty trick up its sleeve. As you may or may not be aware, Sense UI periodically takes a snapshot of your web browser. This is of course not uncommon, as almost any internet-browsing… THING takes screenshots for bookmark purposes and whatnot. However, the Incredible seems to have a problem with forgetting, keeping said screenshots for an awfully long time, including through a factory reset. Yikes. While you can manually…

HTC's EVO 4G Goes On Sale Today

The HTC EVO 4G goes on sale today, earning the honor of becoming America’s first 4G smartphone. Running the Android 2.1 platform with an impressive set of features including both front-facing and an 8 megapixel back-facing camera, GPS, a 1GHz CPU and the ability to output to 720p HD. The EVO is an impressive device, a sign that HTC and Google’s Android platform are deservedly gaining ground against Apple’s iPhone. But it might be a little early to celebrate. According to Electronista, the team that first gained root access to the HTC EVO have announced that Sprint’s customizations of Android have…

Free Smartphones? Shoulda Been at I/O, Man.

Free Smartphones? Shoulda Been at I/O, Man.

The hits just keep coming from Google I/O in San Francisco today – Google TV, Android 2.2, an iTunes competitor – it’s been an impressive day thus far. And while moments ago, I was content to sit on my ass here at home and do little more than muse and smile, I suddenly find myself cranky I hadn’t bothered to check out the event in person. Why? Google just gave everyone at I/O a free EVO 4G. It’s alright, don’t tear up. I feel the same: a crushing weight of sadness, as I sit here looking at my LG 8100 with no 6 key and a slightly broken screen. And MiniSD? Who the hell uses that? In any case, ‘don’t be evil’ truly seems…

The HTC Evo 4G is Landing on June 4th

The HTC Evo 4G is Landing on June 4th

The sleek phone is coming out on June 4th of this year from the phone provider Sprint for $200…too cheap for just hitting the market? Well, you guessed it, that’s after a mail-in rebate. The full price of this phone, you ask?..$450. Not too bad when it’s compared to the BlackBerry or Apple’s iPhone 3Gs, which could run you a bill past $699 without a three-year contract. This Android-powered Windows MAX phone runs on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, it also has a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video-conferencing and so on, an 8 megapixel camera for shooting photos and videos and a large 4.3-inch…

HTC's Incredible Android Device Ready For Pre-orders

The latest and greatest from HTC and Android is now available for pre-order from Verizon Wireless. It is the HTC Incredible (we love the name), and it is set to put all other Android devices to shame. While most Android phones run the same software, Verizon and Motorola previously set themselves apart from all the rest by offering the Motorola Droid. Droid did offer more in terms of hardware and features than the rest of the Android players. However, with Sprint aiming to catch up with the competition with the HTC Evo 4G (a truly stunning device), HTC and Verizon partnered up to offer something even…
