Adobe Pans Its Flash For iPhone Backdoor Plan

Adobe Pans Its Flash For iPhone Backdoor Plan

Adobe has ceased development of its tools to export Flash content into a format suitable for the iPhone. “We will still be shipping the ability to target the iPhone and iPad in Flash CS5,” said Adobe’s Mike Chambers. “However, we are not currently planning any additional investments in that feature.” Apple CEO Steve Jobs has previously slammed Adobe as “lazy” and Flash as unsuitable for use on mobile devices. Apple has not enabled Flash playback on the iPhone, pushing the open HTML 5 standard instead. Adobe’s announced cessation of development follows Apple’s decision…

Apple iPhone Drives Record Quarter, iPad Sales

Apple iPhone Drives Record Quarter, iPad Sales 'Shocking'

Strong iPhone and Mac sales and the continued dominance of Apple’s iPod drove the company to deliver a new record March quarter in revenue and profit. Admitting these results, chief operating officer Tim Cook also confirmed iPad sales so far have “shocked” company execs. Asked how the iPad compares to netbooks, Cook said, “To me, it’s a no-brainer. It’s sort of 100 to 0. I can’t think of a single thing a netbook does well.” Returning to the results, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs said: “We’re thrilled to report our best non-holiday quarter ever, with revenues up 49 percent and profits…

iPad Rumored To Be Getting OLED Screen

iPad Rumored To Be Getting OLED Screen

The iPad has only been out for a while but there are already rumors of a new version in the works. According to a rumor on DigiTime, Apple is hoping to add an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen to the next version of the iPad that will use the same design concept as the iPhone 4G. This might seem like a cool idea right now but it will probably up the price of the iPad. DigiTime says that the cost of OLED panels will drop by 2011 but there is no guarantee to this. Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo said that the price for the 9.7-inch LCD panel for iPad is about US$60-70, whereas the price for a 9.7-inch…

Sprint-ing To Catch Up

Sprint-ing To Catch Up

Sprint, the George Bush of US wireless carriers has announced a new product it hopes will catapult it to the front of the mobile market. It’s an iPad case. Clearly not put off by the fact that AT&T has exclusive rights to the iPhone, and Verizon is the only other network ever mentioned as a contender to this throne, Sprint hopes to maintain relevance by simply being able to use the word ‘iPad’ in one of it’s product names. The stylish case has a pocket on the front to hold a Sprint Overdrive portable wifi hotspot device, a tenuous link at best. In an even greater display of advertising smarts, the case…

Israel and the iPad are no longer friends.

Israel and the iPad are no longer friends.

People in Israel are still reading their newspaper the ‘old fashioned way’ as the iPad has been banned throughout the country. According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, american Wi-Fi technology is broadcasted at a higher signal than is allowed in Israel and Europe. They say that the iPad could potentially interfere with other wireless technology and could pose potential security risks. Application developers are at a stand still because they have no legal way to get their hands on an iPad. Taken from the Huffington Post: Amnon, a software developer who legally brought an iPad…

iPad Gets A Stylus: Creatives Everywhere Can Rejoice

iPad Gets A Stylus: Creatives Everywhere Can Rejoice

If there is one issue that the iPad has in the eyes of the artist, it is that the device lacks a stylus. Sure, there have been attempts to create a stylus using homemade materials that supposedly works well, but people want something a little more robust and fashionable to go with their sexy iPad device. Ten One Design was already ahead of the game, because their stylus works with Macbook trackpads, iPod Touches, and, low and behold, the mighty iPad! The Pogo Sketch was initially created for trackpads and the iPod Touch, enabling users to be more creative with the limited input space they were provided…

This Dog Wants to Take the iPad Behind the Shed

This Dog Wants to Take the iPad Behind the Shed

Meet Chloe. She’s the furry little Corgi who is scratching furiously and barking at the iPad. Simple conclusion: dogs aren’t giving the iPad any thumbs up. Now don’t start getting all technical and say that dogs don’t have thumbs so that would be impossible anyways – IF Chloe had the ability, her thumbs would be down. Her owner decided to try and see what Chloe would think about the futuristic device and clearly, she isn’t a fan. She backs away cautiously and moves the iPad away with her nose, many times. During the first stage, titled ‘Curiosity,’ Chloe is clearly intrigued by the swirls and flashes…

Apple Claims To Own The Word

Apple Claims To Own The Word 'Pad'

Apparently, Apple boss Steve Jobs now claims his company owns the trademark on the word ‘Pad’. This news follows Apple’s move last week to demand app developer Chris Ostmo remove the word ‘Pad’ from the name of his two products, journalPad and journalPad Bible Edition. Ostmo received a terse email from the App Store team telling him to make these changes. The upset developer then wrote a personal plea to Jobs asking for clarification as to the policy, particularly as so many developers had originally shoved a ‘Pad’ suffix into their App names in advance of the iPad launch…he didn’t…

Windows iPad Series 7 Tablet Edition?

Windows iPad Series 7 Tablet Edition?

In what promises to be the “Killer App” the iPad was waiting for, you can now use – wait for it.. Windows 95 on your iPad! If you camped out last weekend waiting for an Apple store to open, dashed in at 9:01am and forked out $500 for the mythical device, you probably aren’t interested in Apple’s iWork suite of apps or games, you probably just wanted to be able to run Microsoft’s first NT based operating system from 15 years ago. Kama Games used a BOCHS emulator to run Windows 95 on an iPad, apparently simply for the joy of being able to say they could. Features include no internet access, no DVD or blu-ray support,…

iPad, Ustream and Bon Jovi team up to live stream sold out Dallas show tonight.

iPad, Ustream and Bon Jovi team up to live stream sold out Dallas show tonight.

Tonight marks a new step for streaming live music with the iPad. Apple and Ustream have teamed up and will deliver Bon Jovi’s sold out Dallas show directly to the iPad. As it seems with all new Apple products, there always seems to be bugs with their first releases. I hope iPad users don’t get too upset if the feed cuts out right before the first chorus of Blaze Of Glory. Everyone will have to dust off their Young Guns 2 VHS tape and listen to that track on there. The thought of missing a Bon Jovi concert may be devastating for most but I can’t see the pleasure of viewing it on a 9.7 inch screen. Just like the newly…
