Apparently born of a mind stuck in the late 90s, TV in a Card is what can only be summed up as the logical progression of musical birthday cards – and a logical regression of just recording and emailing a private YouTube video. I mean, yeah, we’re all used to it now and it’s totally second-nature to most people, but to say it was an intuitive experience is a bit of a stretch. OLED Screens have proven not to be the best type of screens to try and make transparent due to backlighting issues, but Samsung may have beat this with some cleverly hidden backlighting at the SID International Symposium. The company emphasized the transparency of their 46″ LCD Display panel by placing wine bottles behind it. Visitors were encouraged to touch the display to show information about that particular bottle of wine. The display uses the ambient light, and if it’s too dark the display will automatically switch its light source over to use LEDs located around the border of the LCD….

It seems as tho technology researchers are getting bored and slapping a LCD screen on everything.
