Because YouTube is just too damn fast

Because YouTube is just too damn fast

In a head-scratchingly bass-ackwards marketing decision, you can now send recorded videos to friends and family (and enemies, I guess – who are we to judge) via snail mail in the form of TV in a Card. Apparently born of a mind stuck in the late 90s, TV in a Card is what can only be summed up as the logical progression of musical birthday cards – and a logical regression of just recording and emailing a private YouTube video. Each card contains a lithium battery that lasts 90 minutes, and can play up to 30 continuous minutes of video on its 3.4″ LCD screen. Personally, I’m not up for reading a birthday card…

New Toshiba LCD Concept Gives Your Arms a Workout

New Toshiba LCD Concept Gives Your Arms a Workout

Finally. Thank you, Toshiba. I’ve always found that iPhone pinching gesture to be so unintuitive and weird. I mean, yeah, we’re all used to it now and it’s totally second-nature to most people, but to say it was an intuitive experience is a bit of a stretch. Speaking of stretching and pinching and stuff, Toshiba has developed a prototype that as far as I’m concerned makes a bit more intuitive sense: a bendable LCD display, controlled by – yes – bend input. Announced at SID 2010, the panel can zoom in and out by bending accordingly – away for zoom out, toward for zoom in. Simple, right? Totally cool. With…

Samsung Transparent LCD Screen Shown at SID 2010

OLED Screens have proven not to be the best type of screens to try and make transparent due to backlighting issues, but Samsung may have beat this with some cleverly hidden backlighting at the SID International Symposium. The company emphasized the transparency of their 46″ LCD Display panel by placing wine bottles behind it. Visitors were encouraged to touch the display to show information about that particular bottle of wine. The display uses the ambient light, and if it’s too dark the display will automatically switch its light source over to use LEDs located around the border of the LCD….

Some people might get a little sour over this LCD screen

Some people might get a little sour over this LCD screen

It seems as tho technology researchers are getting bored and slapping a LCD screen on everything. Yesterday I wrote about the screen on your microwave that plays YouTube videos, (which seems like a good idea to me) and now they have gone and put a digital screen on your milk jug. In theory I guess this is a good idea and will keep you from drinking spoiled milk but what’s next? A small LCD screen on our cutlery to tell us if its completely sanitized or not? How does the jug actually work? Its pretty simple. It contains a sensor in the bottom and measures the acidity level of the milk and as the pH level drops,…
