Who knew live Photoshopping people at a bus stop could be this much fun? #creativedays

To promote their Creative Days month-long event across Europe, Adobe is coming up with some creative ways to use their software to make people get engaged. One of the most creative that we’ve seen is their “live Photoshop” stunt that they pulled at a bus stop. They would take pictures of people sitting at the bus stop, then Photoshop them live on a screen visible from where they were sitting. The unsuspecting victims would watch helplessly as their images were distorted, contorted, and put into strange situations. Nobody seemed to object, at least in the video. …

Iran's awesome new stealth fighter that nobody will see in the air

Should the world be scared because Iran’s new stealth fighter is impossible to see in the air? On the surface, complete invisibility might sound like a great attribute for a stealth fighter. In the case of Iran’s newest bird, the reason you will never see it in the air is because it’s likely unable to fly. It’s very similar to the story from earlier a couple of weeks ago when the Iranian press released images of their successfully recovered astromonkey that turned out to be a different monkey from the one they actually launched. This time, instead of trying to fool the world with a new monkey, they decided…

Artistic nostalgia: Adobe allows release of source code for original Photoshop

“Download Photoshop legally for free…” Those are the words that geeks have been wanting to hear for over two decades. The good news is that it has finally come true. The bad news is that it’s the original Photoshop source code that has been released. According to the Computer History Museum: With the permission of Adobe Systems Inc., the Computer History Museum is pleased to make available, for non-commercial use, the source code to the 1990 version 1.0.1 of Photoshop. All the code is here with the exception of the MacApp applications library that was licensed from Apple. There are 179 files in…

Scrawl: Photoshop For the Real World?

Scrawl: Photoshop For the Real World?

I don’t know exactly how far this Augmented Reality (AR) thing is really going to go, but I do know that it is getting more technically impressive each and every day. String, a company focused on creating AR applications for mobile devices, has created Scrawl, an application that empowers users to draw in three-dimensional space, looks to usher in a new dimension of artistry. Scrawl is currently a tech demo, but the company has garnered so much interest that they have decided to continue developing the application and intend on releasing it on the Apple App Store in the near future. Until then, all…

Do You Have A Photoshop Obsession?

Do You Have A Photoshop Obsession?

Everyone on this planet, especially those who frequent our sister blog Webdesigner Depot, could appreciate the awesomeness and creativity that Photoshop empowers people with on the Web. However, some people have an obsession with Photoshop — the Hyperakt group, which came up with the idea for the “I Have PSD” video short, is a perfect example….

Apple-Adobe Feud Heats Up With Blatant Disregard for Photoshop

Apple-Adobe Feud Heats Up With Blatant Disregard for Photoshop

It would appear that the rift between Apple and Adobe has become so great, that Apple’s ad artists are losing Touch with Photoshop itself. Head on over to Apple’s iPod Touch page, and tell me if you notice anything outstanding. Anything at all. Notice something? Yeah? How about this? Or this? iPod Touch can send messages – and better still, make phone calls? Gracious! Well, don’t throw your iPhone in the trash just yet – this is clearly a Photoshop flub on Apple’s part, and quite frankly, I expect the images to have been retooled by the end of the day. It’s just always fascinating to see one of the largest…

A World Without Photoshop? Nooooo!

A World Without Photoshop? Nooooo!

Most people have occasionally stopped to wonder what life was like before computers, but if you use Photoshop, you understand the true power and simplicity that computers bring to every day life. Now we get to see for real what a world without Photoshop would be like, thanks to the cryptically named aworldwithoutphotoshop.com. A team of designers hurry to create a magazine cover in a mere eight hours, and are stumped at the notion of having to add lens flare and drop shadow. As someone who remembers the old days of pasting up hand-cropped artwork using spray mount, this brings back personal demons…

Photoshop Feature Sneak Peak: Photobomb Tool

Photoshop Feature Sneak Peak: Photobomb Tool

With Adobe’s Creative Suite 5 barely a couple of months old, the Photoshop team is already hard at work on new features for CS6. Here’s a vidoe sneak peak at a new tool: Photobomb. The video speaks for itself, so check it out, but I’m pretty sure this is something I’ll use on a daily basis. It’s great to see that some of Adobe’s staff are still lighthearted and able to poke fun at themselves, even while their CEO is busy trying to bury the company by chaining it to a dying technology….

Adobe Fixes Photoshop Express For iPad

Adobe Fixes Photoshop Express For iPad

Adobe clearly isn’t out to win any brownie points with Apple or it’s users. Photoshop Express for iPad was finally released on Friday, although the initial reviews were not great. Apparently the app crashes repeatedly, opens other apps when it tries to relaunch and cannot switch to landscape mode. It’s true that the app is free, so perhaps Adobe pushed it out the door quicker than it’s commercial titles, but that still doesn’t seem like a great publicity win for them. Either way, it’s fixed now, so if you grabbed the app (iTunes link) on Friday there’s an update available….

Design geeks, begin salivating now. One of the hot new features of Adobe’s Photoshop CS5, due to be announced April 12th, is content-aware fill….
