Leia Gets Jabber-Washy

Leia Gets Jabber-Washy

I’m absolutely speechless. Some truly great things have been made possible in the name of charity, but if there’s five words that should catch the attention of male nerds everywhere, these are they: Star. Wars. Charity. Car. Wash. The video tells the story my keyboard refuses to, but let me try to spell out the scenario. A bunch of “exotic dancers” all dress up as Princess Leia in the golden bikini and wash cars, while stormtroopers and Darth Vader look on. Watch the video. Go. There’s not a whole lot more to say on this one. Enjoy the series of videos, part one, part two, part three, part four and part…

TomTom Says

TomTom Says 'May The 4th Be With You'

We’re really liking TomTom’s new daft idea: the Darth Vader navigation pack for TomTom! Narrated (as you can see in the video) by the man who provided the voice for Darth Vader, TomTom’s kit gives you the directions you need, all made a little more interesting by his iconic heavy breathing and slightly threatening tone. Better yet, the voice commands are inspired by lines from the original films, Vader may tell you, “Bear left, to the Dark Side,” for example. You also get Star Wars wallpaper, music and sound-effects from the films including the sound of light sabres and TIE fighters along…

Vintage Postcards Invaded by Star Wars

Vintage Postcards Invaded by Star Wars

Have you ever looked at a scene of a family on vacation in 1950s and thought “you know what would go really well here? Star Wars!”. Yeah, me neither. But now that I’ve seen it, it’s all sorts of great. Flickr user Franco Bambilla took a series of vintage postcards and added in either Star Wars or aliens and called in “Invading the Vintage”. For what reason he did so, no-one knows. But let’s be glad he did. You can check out the rest either on his Flickr page or his personal site. [Source: Buzzfeed]…

Star Wars Confirmed for Blu-Ray

Star Wars Confirmed for Blu-Ray

At a time like this, there is only one thing to say. And that thing is: OMG! OMG! OMG! Yes, according to the IGN, tweets coming in from the C2E2 comic book convention in Chicago report that Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilm confirmed that all six Star Wars movies are being readied for Blu-Ray release, along with extras. Sansweet reportedly said the following: “We have been at work for a couple of years working on—I won’t call it the Ultimate Set because we keep finding stuff—but, a very full set of all six movies on Blu-ray with lots of extra material. We’re finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that…

Star Wash Episode IV: A New Soap

Star Wash Episode IV: A New Soap

Lets face it, clean is cool. The only thing cooler than clean is Star Wars, so following some simple arithmetic we can deduce that a bar of soap molded in the shape of Han Solo trapped in Carbonite as seen in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back equals absolute pure awesome. Available at Luxury Lane Soap, the Solo Scrub is the epitome of what we believe in at Techi.com – awesome, nerdy and fresh to boot. At 4.2″ x 2.25″ and 1″ thick, the soap should last a while, but even better, while a side effect of being frozen in carbonite for Han Solo was temporarily blindness, this bar of soap is fragrance-free and made…

What Stormtroopers Really Do When Darth Vader Isn’t Looking

What Stormtroopers Really Do When Darth Vader Isn’t Looking

A photographer named Stéfan decided to create a 365 day photo project of Stormtroopers in everyday scenarios. He started the project on April 3, 2009 and finished it this April. The photos show a fun and comical side to what Stormtroopers might actually be doing on their days off or on missions that they are sent on. These photos are sure to get a laugh out of anyone, Star Wars fan or not. Sources: WildAmmo, Flickr…

A Concept Car That Brings Balance to the Force

A Concept Car That Brings Balance to the Force

I seem to focus on concept vehicles a lot, both produced and still on paper – but who can blame me? There’s no shortage of mondo rides being designed, and each one is generally even cooler than the last. Besides, I think some sort of new phone or something is being released tomorrow; someone’s gotta post something fresh, and bring balance to the frenzy. May as well be me. …Pun intended. Antonio Sunjerga is a designer who clearly has seen Star Wars: A New Hope a few too many times. Looking an awful lot like Luke Skywalker’s land speeder, the gyroscopic ‘TAA’ concept makes you ponder exactly…

Lightsaber Bookends Support Those Paper Thingies You Don

Lightsaber Bookends Support Those Paper Thingies You Don't Read

Who amongst us, the cognoscenti and intelligentsia of the world, hasn’t dreamed of doing something as incredible, sweeping and artful as melting a door with a lightsaber? Fine, maybe that’s a dream limited to a few basement-dwelling nerds. But at least we now have bookends for our dreams! (Ooh, unintentional puns FTW!) New to the Star Wars shop is a pair of bookends that display what it might look like to have a lightsaber piercing through your collection of books, comics or DVDs. Dedicated fans will note, of course, that the lightsaber blade (which lights up) is red, meaning that it probably belongs…

Paris Concert Hall Concept to Please Classical Music Buffs, Star Wars Fans

Paris Concert Hall Concept to Please Classical Music Buffs, Star Wars Fans

While to some the above picture represents a World Architecture Award-winning design concept for a new home for the Philarmonie de Paris, come on: it’s an Imperial Destroyer, right? Right!? Okay maybe that’s just me. The proposed building by Jungmin Nam – which, sorta’ incredibly, he completed while still at the Harvard School of Design – aims to showcase the different views of Paris, and visitors will not only catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower but numerous other aspects of the City of Lights. as the architect states, the idea with this design is to “bring people to a visual contact with the surrounding…
