Content Flow from Creation to Tweet

Content Flow from Creation to Tweet

If there’s one major flaw with the way that many businesses use automation tools, it’s that they’re not able to properly control the flow of content from its longest form down to it’s shortest form. This is unfortunate because using RSS feeds to post to Facebook and Twitter from a blog, for example, doesn’t save much time at all but minimizes the effectiveness of the networks. It’s all about flow. It’s about taking advantage of the strengths of the various networks will not falling into the traps that each allows. Let’s take a look at an example of content flow. In this case, we’re going to work it down…

Microsoft and Google at it again

Microsoft and Google at it again

Yes, Microsoft seems to have given Google the hump lately with their new update for the YouTube app on Windows Phones. The problem is that users of this app can now save videos on their phone and play them as much as they want offline, oh no! In fairness, it is clearly stated in YouTube’s terms and conditions that granting users the ability to store videos is prohibited. I’d like to bring forward the fact that this app isn’t the first of its kind; in fact there are loads of ways to lift YouTube content. On your PC, there are ample extensions available, along with dedicated websites where you can download…

YouTube introduces paid subscription channels

It’s no secret that YouTube is working to become a major player in the media-streaming business. Having already succeeded in becoming the world’s largest video-sharing website, they intend to turn themselves into complete video delivery platform. YouTube already has a pay-per-view service that allows users to rent movies and television shows. Now they’re delving into the realm of paid subscriptions. Their new service includes 53 new channels that users must pay for in order to subscribe and watch videos. The subscription fees start at $.99 per month but the price can be changed by…

UFO activity in April, 2013

UFO activity in April, 2013

Things are really starting to get ridiculous in the skies. It seems like these are popping up everywhere, not just the hot spots like Mexico City and Colorado. As we often ask, is it just the increase in the number of available video cameras through our smartphones that accounts for the rise or is there really an increase in UFO activity in general? We’re coming up on a year of covering this. Every month, we highlight the best of the best of UFO videos, marked for the most part by the great work that they do at AnonymousFO. Here’s what we’ve covered in the past. Interesting viewing if you have a couple of…

Businesses need seven social accounts, not dozens, hundreds, or thousands

Businesses need seven social accounts, not dozens, hundreds, or thousands

In the early days of search engine optimization, the pitch that many companies used was very appealing. “We’ll get you listed on thousands of search engines so that everyone can find you.” Today, this seems like a ludicrous statement. There’s only three real search engines that account for 97% of the search traffic and it’s been like that for some time, but back as recently as 2008, many companies were still pushing automated search engine submission as their primary selling point for search engine optimization. The same thing is happening today, only with social media. There are companies out…

Is social media responsible for less E3 involvement?

Is social media responsible for less E3 involvement?

If you’re interested in gaming or anything technology-related, you most likely have your eyes set on E3 this June. The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is the must-attend event of the year, especially if you’re a company looking to target gamers and investors. However, attendance at these trade shows is diminishing. Social media is taking hold of the industry. Companies are relying on Internet marketing companies to promote games rather than spending the money on attending trade shows. If you’ve been following the news, you probably know that Nintendo, which is arguably the most…

Has Google+ risen from the ashes or are the numbers misleading?

Has Google+ risen from the ashes or are the numbers misleading?

Things were looking good for Google Plus when it first launched almost two years ago. Even while it was still in its testing phase, millions of people were clamoring to sign up for Google’s social networking service. Invites had to be suspended for the invite-only field test because of the insane demand for new accounts. It only took two weeks for ten million people to create accounts on the new service. Hopes were high and it looked like a real competitor had finally arisen to take on Facebook. But even as the number of users increased, users and journalists began criticizing the service. More…

IBM produces the world

IBM produces the world's smallest movie: A Boy and His Atom

IBM is one of the largest firms in the world in terms of both market capitalization and number of employees. It has held the record for most patents generated by a company for twenty consecutive years. A lot of time and effort was required to bring this company to the point is is today, but don’t let that fool you. Even the hard-working employees at IBM need to take some time off work and have a little fun. On Tuesday, IBM released a video on their YouTube channel called “A Boy and His Atom”. It’s a short, stop-motion movie created by a small team of nanophysicists as a part of a side project. It isn’t…

NASA PhoneSats use Android phones to send data from orbit

NASA PhoneSats use Android phones to send data from orbit

Earlier this week, NASA launched three smartphone satellites, called “PhoneSats”, into orbit. They rode into space aboard the maiden flight of Orbital Science Corp.’s Antares rocket from NASA’s Wallops Island Flight Facility in Virginia. They were sent into orbit as a part of test to determine whether a consumer-grade smartphone can be used as the main flight avionics of a working, low-cost satellite, and it certainly can. The three PhoneStats, which may end up being the lowest-cost satellites ever flown into space, have been transmitting signals and sending photos down to earth. Several…

Social media revolution ‘’from online to on-ground’’

Social media revolution ‘’from online to on-ground’’

Social media is increasingly being used to serve as a catalyst in bringing about social and political changes. On June 6, 2010, Khaled Mohamed Saeed was viciously murdered by two plain-clothed policemen in Egypt. He had been sitting on the second floor of a cybercafé in Alexandria when two detectives entered the premises, dragged him out, and killed him on the spot. The offices claimed that he was drug dealer who died after chocking on a packet of drugs he swallowed when he saw the policeman approach. This claim was met with derision when photographs of Khaled’s corpse were released on the…

Alexander Polli flies his wingsuit through a tiny hole at 155 MPH

Alexander Polli flies his wingsuit through a tiny hole at 155 MPH

It’s unlikely that a professional wingsuit maniac Alexander Polli had anything other than adrenalin and testosterone flowing around him when he went through the tiny hole in the video below, but watching it might make you mess your own pants. It’s that insane. While not purely technological as we normally post here on TECHi, this is a video that’s worth noting because of the amazing things humans have been able to do when technology is involved. In recent years, the wingsuit has received both a ton of attention on YouTube as well as a miniature industry that some of the brightest minds in design and…
