Even Apple admits that Apple Music could use some work

Apple Music is a decent product, but it’s not even close to being the game-changer that competitors in the music streaming industry feared it would be. In fact, aside from its curated playlists, there’s little reason for anyone to use the service over something like Spotify. While Apple has denied the rumors that it hasn’t been able to retain Apple Music, users, the company still admits that it has a lot of work to do in order to improve the service.ย

Apple has โ€œa bit of homework to be doneโ€ to improve its Apple Music streaming service, the companyโ€™s international iTunes boss has said.ย Apple Music launched in June as a rival to Spotify and while it has been praised for its curated playlists it has been criticised over its user interface and bugs affecting peopleโ€™s existing iTunes libraries.ย โ€œThereโ€™s a lot of work going into making the product better. Our focus is on editorial and playlists, and obviously we have teams all around the world working on that, but weโ€™re also adding features and cleaning up certain things,โ€ Oliver Schusser, vice president, iTunes International, told the Guardian.ย โ€œApple Music Connect is growing big-time with more and more artists connecting to their fans, but we still have a bit of homework to be done for the rest of the year.โ€ย Asked about criticisms of Apple Musicโ€™s usability โ€“ which has seen users complaining of corrupted libraries and unintuitive interfaces โ€“ Schusser said: โ€œThe product is always our priority, and we are getting a lot of feedback. Remember, this was a very big launch in 110 markets instantly, so we get a ton of feedback. Weโ€™re obviously trying to make it better every day.โ€ he said.
