Google’s AI chatbot “Gemini” now has 350 million monthly active users around the world, as revealed during a recent court hearing in Google’s antitrust case. This number was first shared by The Information. Gemini’s rise has been fast. In October 2024, it had only 9 million daily users. Just a few months later, that figure jumped to 35 million daily active users, a huge leap in a short amount of time.

One reason for this rapid growth is Google’s strategy of adding Gemini into its popular products. Features powered by Gemini are now built into Samsung phones, Google Workspace apps, and the Chrome browser, helping it reach more users every day.

Still Behind ChatGPT and Meta AI in User Numbers

Even with this fast growth, Gemini still isn’t the leading AI chatbot in terms of user base. In the same court hearing, Google estimated that “ChatGPT” had around 600 million monthly active users in March. That’s similar to “Meta AI”, which “Mark Zuckerberg” mentioned had reached 500 million monthly users back in September. Although companies may measure users slightly differently, the numbers highlight how fast AI tools are spreading.

What’s Next for AI Chatbots?

Experts believe that AI chatbot usage will continue to grow in 2025 and beyond. According to industry research, the global chatbot market hit a massive USD 7.76 billion in 2024 and is expected to surge even further with a 23.3% annual growth rate from 2025 to 2030. The momentum is strong, and there’s no slowing down. And the global AI market could reach over $190 billion by next year. With this much growth, tools like Gemini, ChatGPT and Meta AI are expected to become even more common in our daily lives not just for chatting, but for helping with work, learning, creativity, and much more.

As competition heats up, user privacy, content quality, and smarter features will become key to winning trust and keeping users coming back.
