Known as “HASH” and “Rev0lver”, an infamous Russian hacker recently managed to gain access to one of the BBC’s servers. The hacker proceeded to attempt to sell access to the server on an underground forum but was discovered Hold Security LLC, a security firm that monitors underground forums for such activity.

The company, which monitors black market forums for such activity, said the site that was compromised was a file transfer protocol at ftp.bbc.co.uk.
