The train that goes 190-feet under water is opening

People have been known to get claustrophobic in trains. Imagine if that train was traveling under the Bosporus Strait. If there were a breach, there would be no survivors. Thankfully, they’ve taken the time to approve and build the train system so that any such breach would be unlikely…

…at least that’s what traveler in Istanbul are hoping.

Underwater railway tunnels are like a defiance of nature, allowing humans to literally walk and breathe while being technically submerged in water. The latest addition to the system is also one that was proposed 150 years ago by an Ottoman sultan: the Marmaray tunnel, which links the east and west sides of Istanbul.
