Previously rolled out as a beta test during Spring 2012, NimbleTV launched to the public this week in New York City. While there are some similarities to Aereo’s mobile streaming video service, NimbleTV is attempting to cooperate to a certain degree with the various cable companies that provide service in NYC. In short, NimbleTV streams cable TV channels to iOS mobile devices and Roku set-top box hardware and computers.
NimbleTV launched its television-on-demand service on Tuesday to the New York City area. Next, the world. It might not happen that fast, but that is the goal for Anand Subramanian, chief executive of the steaming television start up. “The ambition of the company is to effectively solve this fragmentation problem. There’s TV all over the place and it’s a mess,” Subramanian says. “We are also looking at his as a global platform.”
