Facebook claims that it doesn’t read unpublished comments

Over 25,000 Facebook users have signed an online petition in an effort to get Facebook to stop collecting unpublished posts and comments. The petition refers to posts that people type out but delete without posting. The problem is, Facebook claims that it doesn’t read unpublished comments and that the petition is pointless.

Thousands of Facebook users are giving a big thumbs-down to the idea that the social network may be reading their unpublished thoughts. An online petition on Care2, a social network for healthy living, boasts more than 27,000 “signatures” from people who want Facebook to “stop stalking our unposted thoughts!” The group is referring to posts, comments and status updates that people type out, then delete before they ever share.
