Chevrolet Trax

The company might embroiled in a ton of controversy surrounding their ignition switch technology and whether or not they knew that it was a hazard for years before doing something about it, but that’s not stopping them from pushing forward with their advanced product line. At the 2014 New York Auto Show, they introduced the Chevrolet Trax to the American market.

This small SUV/crossover is sure to draw in comparisons to their failed mini-SUV attempt, the Tracker. Not only are the names and sizes the same, but the target audience is the same as well. This time, they’re not borrowing the technology to build it from Suzuki and they’ve tested it first; the vehicle has been on sale in Canada and Mexico since 2012.

“This is the last segment that Chevy needs in order to have a complete lineup,” said a representative from Chevrolet in Indianapolis. “It gives us an entry point into the mini-crossover market.”

The Trax will be built on the same Gamma II platform as the Sonic, Spark, and Buick Encore, making it their first home-built entry into the segment.
