The iPhone 6 will reportedly only come in 32GB and 64GB models

1 min read

The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 should ship on Friday, September 19th, say sources for Chinese site Tencent. The site also claims that the device will launch in 32 and 64GB capacities, at local prices of 5,288 yuan ($846) and 6,288 yuan ($1,008), respectively. The implication appears to be that Apple is dropping 16GB as an option, since the prices mentioned are what 16 and 32GB versions of the iPhone 5s currently sell for. While it’s likely too early for an exact launch date to be formalized, the report is consistent with a date given out by Deutsche Telekom in May, and Apple does prefer to launch iPhones on Fridays. Also, some competing devices have dropped 16GB as an option, including the HTC One M8.

Although the iPhone 6 is not yet official, everyone’s guessing that the smartphone in question will be unveiled and released sometime during the third quarter of the year, or at the beginning of Q4 at the latest. Nevertheless, pinpointing the exact release date is not an easy task, especially now that we have not one, but two smartphones expected to be unveiled. There are also two new iPads planned for a release, as well as the mysterious iWatch which is nowsupposedly waiting for its FDA certification. In any case, an older rumor has just re-emerged, suggesting that the iPhone 6 will in fact hit the market relatively early. Care to learn the details? Then keep on scrolling down for the full story. Some of you might not recall this, but about a month ago a certain eport was suggesting that the iPhone 6 will be launched on September 19. This bit of information came from Deutsche Telekom’s support representatives, who have been instructed to inform the carrier’s customers about the aforementioned iPhone 6 release date in order to build up the hype. Today we circle back to September 19th, as a fresh report coming from the Chinese media “reconfirms” that the iPhone 6 will be officially launched on September 19. The date falls on a Friday too, which brings more weight to the idea of a September 19 launch, given the fact that Apple has a tendency to release new products on Fridays.
