Nokia surprised us all when it released an Android smartphone earlier in the year, after-all this was a company so heavily entrenched in Windows Phone that it had been purchased by Microsoft. Redmond has since taken the keys for Nokia’s devices and services divisions and it seems Microsoft is eager to continue the brands foray into Android. The Android devices from Nokia released earlier this year were budget standalone handsets in a newly created X range. All of these smartphones were competent, but the truth is they were very much oriented towards the entry level. Microsoft’s Android plans for Nokia go beyond the budget price point though and the company will even extend the Lumia brand to its rival platform. According to serial tipster Evleaks, Microsoft will release an Android running Lumia device in the near future, with the Nokia by Microsoft moniker in tow.
