This smart coffee maker can have a hot cup ready before you even ask

There’re plenty of connected coffee makers out there, but none of them can truly be called “smart,” which is something that Smarter’s new Wi-Fi Coffee Machine hopes to change. This coffee maker can begin remotely making you a cup, a few cups, or a whole pot using commands from your smartphone, or even a scheduling system, that way the coffee can already be made by the time you wake up or get home.

Today Smarter, the makers of the iKettle, have announced a £100 Wi-Fi Coffee Machine that will be available internationally — that’s roughly $150 and AU$190 at the current exchange rate. Smarter’s new Wi-Fi Coffee Machine will be on display at CES 2015 in Las Vegas this coming week and features a built-in bean grinder and an Android and iOS app. That means that you should be able to control what happens with your brew remotely, including being woken just as your coffee finishes brewing, receiving alerts when it needs to be refilled and even getting a “welcome home” note asking if you’d like it to make you a fresh pot. This isn’t the first connected coffee maker we’ve seen. The Mr. Coffee Smart Optimal Brew we reviewed last year was designed in collaboration with Belkin’s WeMo line so you have some access to your caffeinated beverage from a mobile app. Unfortunately, it didn’t make a very strong brew and it didn’t actually integrate with other Belkin WeMo products.
