The wait may finally be over. The most popular smartphone to come out of China was released more than a year ago, and people have been getting antsy waiting for some kind of official announcement from Xiaomi regarding the smartphone’s successor: the Xiaomi Mi 5. While we still don’t have anything official, a popular leaker known as @KJuma has posted what’s claimed to be a leaked teaser image from Xiaomi on Weibo.

It’s been more than a year since Xiaomi released its Mi 4 flagship and it looks like we might not need to wait much longer to see its successor, the Mi 5, according to a teaser image leaked by popular leaker @KJuma. The leaked image was released through @KJuma’s Weibo account and shows a “5” along with the words “Are you ready” and a partial image of a fingerprint. According to previous reports, Xiaomi was planning to use the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor on the Mi 5 and was only waiting for the release of the new processor to use with the Mi 5. But with this leaked teaser image it looks like the company has decided to no longer wait for the Snapdragon 820 which still has no definite release date. Xiaomi may have decided to use the new version of the Snapdragon 810 processor instead on the Mi 5 which features an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU. Previous rumors also state that the Mi 5 will come with a 5.2-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 3GB of RAM, a 3000mAh battery, and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
