Xiaomi may get most of the attention in the Chinese smartphone market, but it’s actually Huawei that reigns supreme. With a market share of 18.7%, the Shenzen-based company is the top smartphone manufacture in China, and has even managed to surpass its goal of selling 100 million units this year. This number also ranks it behind only Samsung and Apple, respectively, in terms of global smartphone shipments.
Huawei once again takes the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market in the third quarter of 2015 according to a report by statistics agency TrendForce. According to the report, Huawei is the #1 ranking Chinese smartphone manufacturer with a market share of 18.7% in the third quarter of 2015. It was also the top ranking Chinese manufacturer during the second quarter of 2015 with a market share of 17.9%. This means the company’s market share has grown by around .8% since the previous quarter. The report also stated that Huawei was able to perform above expectations in the third quarter of this year as it achieved its target of 100 million units shipped this year. With its current performance, company may even be able to reach the 110 million unit mark by the end of the year. Compared to its performance last year, Huawei’s shipments have grown by around 40%. TrendForce Analyst Avril Wu said that “Huawei is the first Chinese smartphone brand to reach 100 million in annual shipment volume, but it is unlikely to be the only Chinese vendor to arrive at this threshold this year.”
