There is just something about being in an “express class” when one is at school or a higher learning institution. It does have an air of elitism to it, not to mention being able to complete whatever we are supposed to study at a faster rate than our more ordinary peers. Having said that, to see a smartphone range skip a level in terms of its software update is always a welcome sight, and it is the 2013 DROID smartphones from Motorola that has been given such a treatment this time around, according to Motorola senior director of software product management David Schuster.

Back in early May, we got wind that the Android 4.4.2 update for Verizon’s Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx could be nearing release. We never heard anything else about the matter, though, until today when a Motorola executive shed some light on the matter. Over on his Google+ page, Motorola’s David Schuster has revealed that his company is currently prepping the Android 4.4.3 update for the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. Schuster explains that Motorola ran into issues with the Android 4.4.2 update for those devices, but because they knew that Android 4.4.3 would be close, they decided to delay updating the Droids and wait for 4.4.3 rather than push 4.4.2 and make users wait longer for 4.4.3. Schuster goes on to explain that Motorola is currently hard at work on the Android 4.4.3 update for the 2013 Droid family. No exact release timeframe was given, but he does say that Moto is working to get the update out “shortly.”
