Google is bringing podcasts to Google Play Music

Google is using the same technology and curation expertise that makes its music subscription service so great, and applying that to podcasts. The search giant on Tuesday announced it’s launching a new portal for podcasters today, allowing users in the U.S. to upload their shows directly to Google Play Music. “Along with direct searches and browsing for podcasts, the service will connect new listeners with podcasts based on what they’re doing, how they’re feeling, or what they’re interest in,” Google said. What makes Google Play Music such an excellent service is that it has playlists curated for specific moods and situations. In rush hour traffic? There’s a playlist for that. Staying up late? There’s a playlist for that. And so on and so forth. This same formula will apply to the service’s podcast section, giving it that same level of curation people have come to expect from the music service. If you’re so inclined to upload your podcast to Google Play Music, you can do so by following this link here. Google said it’s already working with some of today’s most popular podcasters, including Earwolf, HBO, HowStuffWorks, Feral Audio and more. Google doesn’t say exactly when these podcasts will be available to listen to, though if it’s just starting to let people upload their shows, you can be it’ll take a while before you can start listening.
