Confirming rumors from earlier in the year, Microsoft has announced that it has acquired N-trig, the company behind the advanced digital pen technology that’s an essential part of the Surface and Surface Pro experience. The company specializes in digital pens and has more than 100 patents in this field, something that will certainly prove to be useful to Microsoft.

Today we are excited to have acquired advanced digital pen technology from N-trig Ltd., with whom we’ve partnered closely for several years. People love all they can do with the Surface Pen and their Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3. We can’t wait to show you what we’ll deliver for our Surface Fans in the future.
