3D printing may have the potential to revolutionize the way we manufacture things, but for now, 3D printing is mostly used to create colorful nicknacks and small-scale components for the few people that can actually afford 3D printers. That being said, tons of research and development is being put into the technology, and NASA itself has actually been exploring 3D printing for years. It demonstrated the results of that exploration in a recent press release, where it posted a video of a partially-complete 3D-printed rocket engine firing up.
