Nintendo’s next console might determine whether or not the company has a place in the console market, and if the rumors that popped up on Wednesday have any kind of validity, it looks like Nintendo will be going all-out with the NX in order to secure its position in the market. According to the rumors, the Nintendo NX will be able to play games in 900p at 60FPS, and will be able to stream video in 4K at 60FPS. The rumors also claim that the device will be able to work with other devices like computers, smartphone, or even other consoles, though it doesn’t mention what that would entail. There’s also mention of a subscription-based service that’ll grant users access to an ever-changing library of 150 games.

A pair of Nintendo NX-related reports have surfaced, offering a handful of potential clues as to what the company has planned for its next console. According to a post on Twitter by The Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki, Nintendo’s next console may work with other devices, including PCs, smartphones and other consoles like PS4. Aside from the fact that Mochizuki received the information from David Gibson, the Head of Research at Macquarie Capital Securities in Japan, an actual source for the information was not provided. As such, take this report with a grain of salt. Additionally, an apparent survey from GFK (a client of Nintendo) has surfaced online by way of Twitter user Liam Robertson, providing new details about Nintendo NX. In addition to mentioning connectivity between a handheld and console unit, the survey also highlights an achievement-based system, 4K/60FPS video streaming and “gameplay graphics” that run in 900p at 60FPS. Again, take these reports with a grain of salt, as Nintendo has yet to announce any specific details on NX. Just last week, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima outlined the company’s plans for 2016, reaffirming that we’ll hear more about the mysterious console later this year.
