It’s been so long since Nokia announced the Lumia 1320 that we just sort of assumed it wasn’t headed to the US. Heck, even when the 1320 showed up in an FCC filing we weren’t convinced. After all, it was impossible to tell then what carrier would even support the phone. Well, now we know: Cricket Wireless has just announced that it will start selling the 1320 on June 13th, making it the only US operator to offer the 6-inch Windows Phone. If you’re not already a Cricket customer, this might not be reason enough to switch; the device’s cumbersome size and patchy call quality are already knocks against. But for Cricket customers, at least, this could be interesting: The 1320 is the closest thing the carrier has to a phablet, and it’s only the second Windows Phone device on offer.

We haven’t heard much about the Nokia Lumia 1320 in the U.S. ever since it originally debuted back in October, but in just a few days the Windows Phone phablet will finally have a U.S. operator to call home. Cricket Wireless announced today that it will begin selling the Lumia 1320 this Friday, June 13. Pricing will be set a $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The Nokia Lumia 1320 is one of the larger Windows Phone models currently available, sporting a 6-inch 1280×720 display. In order to help power that large screen, the Lumia 1320 also includes a beefy 3400mAh battery. Also included with the Nokia Lumia 1320 is a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot with support for cards unto 64GB in size and 4G LTE connectivity. Powering this Lumia package is Windows Phone 8 Update 3. The Lumia 1320 isn’t quite a specced out as its Lumia 1520 sibling, but it’s still a respectable Windows Phone device, especially for a little over $200 without a commitment. It’s great to see Windows Phone continue to appear in the prepaid market, and while there’s nothing wrong with entry-level devices like the Lumia 520 that went prepaid before it, this Lumia 1320 is a welcome sight since it provides a slightly more high-end Windows Phone experience.
