Remember when LG was trying to get us all hyped for its upcoming super premium smartphone? Well, the company ended up trying to downplay the device shortly before its announcement, and it’s a good thing they did, because nothing about the LG V10 is super premium. In fact, the only thing worth noting about the device is that it has a dual screen, which is LG’s way of trying to mimic the success of the Galaxy S6 Edge, but if the sales numbers coming out of South Korea are anything to go by, it’s not working. Undeterred, LG has started shipping the device to China and the United States in an effort to boost sales, with a more extensive international rollout coming in the near future.

LG officially announced the V10 smartphone at the end of last month on September 30th, stating at the time that the phone would launch in South Korea the following week and that other markets such as the U.S. would receive the phone in the near future. While the phone hasn’t officially launched in any region other than LG’s home market just yet, some retailers and carriers like T-Mobile are already taking pre-orders for the device here in the U.S. Back during the initial unveiling, LG also stated that the phone would be coming to other markets worldwide, and this evening LG has just announced that global launches of the V10 are to begin this week. That doesn’t mean there are specific dates though, as LG also mentioned that each market and the carriers in those markets would be announcing their own pricing and release dates for the product. The good news for consumers here in the U.S. as well as China and Hong Kong is that the device is to begin shipping this week, while LG states that other “key markets” in North America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Latin America will start to see shipments of the phone head out to retailers and consumers throughout the rest of the fourth quarter, which means customers in regions that are to see the phone launch can expect to be able to get their hands on the LG V10 by the end of the year.
