Panasonic has unveiled a new mirrorless camera capable of recording 4K-resolution video, as a successor to the Lumix GH3. While the Lumix GH4 takes after the appearance of the previous model, albeit slightly smaller, it boasts an improved focus on video work, with Panasonic also launching an accessory that adds a host of connections and extra controls ideal for videographers. The Lumix GH4 offers a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor with the Venus Engine IX image processor, offering a sensitivity of up to ISO 25,600, a 12fps RAW burst mode for up to 40 shots or 7fps with AF tracking, and a new 49-point focus array with a new Depth from Defocus autofocus system. On the back of the weather-sealed casing is a 3-inch, 1 million-dot vari-angle OLED display, accompanied by a 2.36 million-dot EVF, as well as Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity for control via a mobile device.
