Samsung’s massive 7-inch smartphone has been spotted at the FCC

Earlier this month we got a glimpse at Samsung’s upcoming 7-inch smartphone after a brochure for the super-sized handset leaked online. Now we’re getting an even closer look at the device in the form of an FCC filing. The 7-inch handset, apparently called the Galaxy W, appears to offer a simple plastic design similar to the Galaxy Mega. It’s listed here with the model number SM-T2558 and described as a “Portable Tablet” though it’s clearly meant to look like an oversized smartphone. According to the documents above, the device measures 205 mm (8.07 inches) across its diagonal, though that includes its thick plastic bezels, placing the screen size right around 7-inches. Based on previous leaks we’re expecting the Galaxy W to come equipped with a 7-inch 720p display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with microSD support, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel camera upfront. The device allegedly runs Android 4.3 along with a specialized “Phoneblet UX” that lets you run two apps onscreen at once.
