Twitter has launched Twitter Alerts in the U.K. and Ireland. The service allows organizations to send emergency, relief, or charity alerts to opted-in users. Some 57 Twitter accounts from the two countries have already signed on, 47 of which are the U.K. police forces. This new service will allow the British and Irish police to push out critical information in a quick and efficient manner.
