After more than a year of false leaks and rumors that did nothing but get our hopes up, it’s nice to see a leak regarding the Xiaomi Mi5 that we can be fairly certain is actually true. We know that the smartphone will be launching in February, but according to a leaked product page from a third-party retailer in China, the actually launch day will be on February 20th. Considering how this is Xiaomi’s first flagship in more than a year, the launch is expected to be massive, and Foxconn has employees working double shifts to ensure that it can meet the demand on launch day. The product page also showed us what kind of specs the device will have, including 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 820, but that’s not too surprising.

A third-party retailer in China has leaked the Xiaomi Mi 5 and its supposed launch date on February 20. According to the product page on Gear Best, the Xiaomi Mi 5 release date will be the day after launch: February 21. Anticipation for the device is huge and the Foxconn factory producing it even has employees pulling additional shifts to ensure supplies can meet demand. The Gear Best listing not only provided information on the Mi 5 launch, but also divulged the Xiaomi Mi 5 specs, price and more press renders of the device. The specs listed include a 5.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 3,600 mAh non-removable battery and 16 MP/8 MP camera combo. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will launch initially in three colors: black, white and gold. Interestingly, the Gear Best page says there will not be a microSD card slot, but you never know, Xiaomi has used multi-purpose dual-SIM card slots in the past, offering the choice of two SIM cards or a SIM and microSD card. The Gear Best page only states a 16 GB and 64 GB base model, as you can see above. Meanwhile, Foxconn is making sure there will be more than enough units on hand to meet the massive demand on February 21. A Weibo user recently posted a photo of a banner taken inside one of the Foxconn factories producing the Mi 5 that translates to: “Guarantee to supply Mi 5, strive to deliver the highest quality”.
