People were very impressed when Sony announced that it sold over one million PS4s within the first 24 hours of launch. Now it Microsoft has not only matched those sales with the Xbox One, but may potentially overtake the PS4 in the months to come despite the PS4s earlier launch.

Microsoft’s Xbox One game console has sold more than one million units in the first 24 hours since its release. Microsoft announced the sales milestone on Saturday, confirming to Reuters that its new console was off to a fast sales start. The launch of the Xbox One signals the real commencement of the next generation of the “console wars,” with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo now all having released their home console entries.
