Amazon may be opening its own physical grocery stores

1 min read

One of the reasons that online stores are so popular nowadays is that they allow you to purchase whatever you want without having to leave the house. However, unlike physical stores where you have immediate access to whatever you purchased, purchasing something through an online store means you have to wait for it to be delivered. It’s up to the customer to decide which convenience they prefer, but if Amazon has its way, customers may soon be able to get the best of both worlds.

When’s the last time you went to a drive-through? That’s pretty common if you’re craving some delicious and unhealthy fast food, but it’s not all that common if you’re looking for a bit more. You might have, at one point in your life, checked out one of the many drive-through alcohol establishments that exist around the country, which are happy to load up your car with whatever you feel like purchasing—and you don’t even have to leave the driver’s seat, too. That said, it’s pretty unlikely that you’re going to find a drive-through grocery store anywhere. We can’t imagine the kind of hassle that would create for the people working there, though we might get a chance to soon see it in person. According to a report from the Silicon Valley Business Journal, Amazon is allegedly working on a new drive-up grocery store concept that will have its first official test run in Silicon Valley. Before you start writing up your shopping list and grabbing your keys, know that Amazon’s model is likely to differ a little bit from the drive-up experience you’re probably used to. For starters, you won’t be ordering your groceries at the store itself, or while idling your car in the world’s biggest queue. You’ll figure out all the things you need to buy online, and you’ll pick up all the ones that are available at the drive-up store.
