Apple beefs up the MacBook Air’s specs and lowers the price

49 sec read

Earlier this week Apple launched a refreshed version of its Macbook Air lineup. And they did so quietly. I was only alerted to the news thanks to The Verge’s twitter account. The new base model Air is now equipped with Intel’s latest generation Core i5 Haswell processor running at 1.4 GHz, up from the previous Air’s 1.3 GHz. What’s more is that the price of every Air model has been dropped by $100.

Our favorite notebook just got even better. Apple upgraded the MacBook Air today with new Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and a cheaper price tag. If you’re in need of a new laptop within the next few months, this is without a doubt the notebook to get. Following rumors of an impending upgrade last week, both the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Airs start with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB of RAM, configurable up to a 1.7 GHz Core i7 and 8GB of memory. You’ll get 128 GB of Flash storage, which you can upgrade to 512 GB. The past few years, Apple has refreshed the MacBook Air in the summer during or following WWDC. The 2013 iteration included better battery life and a more power efficient 1.3 GHz Core i5 Haswell processor. Today’s updated notebooks are specced at the same battery life as their predecessors, 9 hours for the smaller model and a full 12 hours for the 13-inch.
