Apparently, Everyone Got A Mac?

Cute as they were, and even being a Mac user myself, I always found the Get A Mac campaign to be a huge, unfair middle finger to PC users.

But while Apple was no longer producing new ads already, it seems now that the campaign has been completely removed from Apple’s site, as well – attempts to locate it as such simply lead to the newly-beefed Why You’ll Love A Mac page.

While removing a campaign from a website is nothing terribly out of the ordinary – after all, marketing has to move on – it makes me wonder for what reason Apple would so flippantly remove such a high-visibility campaign. The Get A Mac ads are an almost legendary part of the last decade’s popular culture, and even until their dying breath, the ads were very effective (if still totally unfair to PC users). I guess everyone who wanted one must’ve already got a Mac.

Apple had better have something completely awesome lined up for the iPad’s television campaign once its demand levels out. You know, in like ten years.

  1. Even if I am a PC user, these ads cracked me up everytime and still are, watching them on YouTube sometimes! Mac Vs. PC ads were a brilliant campaign from Apple which had a “I’m a PC” backlash from Microsoft. So long Mac and PC guy!

  2. I actually do want a good Macbook Pro 13 inch…too bad it doesn’t have an i5 or i7 core though……My next techi thing I buy is gonna be a desktop though. Video editing just doesn’t cut it with a laptop.

  3. Actually all the ads are right here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_a_Mac

I don’t think playful jabs are insulting anyone here. And as Codephase mentioned, it initiated a response campaign from PC and away they go.

See the ongoing BMW, AUDI battle campaign for a great example of brand battling in a clever and entertaining way.

  4. Being a PC user, and very satisfied. I have no plan for buying a mac. But boy do i love these ads! Apple should continue making them!

After all, even a Mac is a pc 😀 (Personal Computer)
