Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 could be coming to China Mobile

47 sec read

Back in 2010 Samsung launched the original Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520. The phone ran Android 2.1 which was a bit outdated at the time as Android 2.2 launched just a few months prior. It was powered by a 720MHz OMAP 3440 processor paired with 384MB of RAM and a  PowerVR SGX 530 GPU driving a 3.7” WVGA Super AMOLED display. Next to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S smartphones the Galaxy Beam seemed comparatively weak.

Samsung hasn’t forgotten its projector-toting Galaxy Beam line and has announced the Galaxy Beam 2. We haven’t heard anything about the Galaxy Beam series in over two years, leading many to believe – if they even wondered – that the line was dead. Apparently it was not and Samsung quietly released the phone today on its Chinese site with scant details. The Galaxy Beam 2 gets its name from featuring a miniature projector on top that will allow you to beam content from your phone on to screens and walls. Don’t expect anything too stellar when it comes to the image however as the company states it only supports WVGA resolution. As for the phone aspects, the Galaxy Beam 2 won’t be setting the world on fire with its specs. The handset is launching with Android 4.2, a WVGA TFT display, an unnamed 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 5MP camera, 2600mAh battery and not a whole lot more.
