Fuji’s X-T1 already has one of the most impressive electronic viewfinders in the mirrorless world, but if recent rumors are to be believed, that that isn’t good enough for the Japanese company. According to an updated rumor report by Fuji Rumors, Fuji is indeed planning to release an incremental update to the much-loved mirrorless shooter and they’re doing it simply because they want to replace the current 2.36K EVF with a higher-resolution 4K version. Initially dubbed the X-T1b, now the X-T1p, the name is uncertain but the existence of this camera, strange though it is, seems to be a near-certainty.

Earlier this year Fujifilm unveiled a new camera in the form of the Fujifilm X-T1. The camera is one of Fujifilm’s slightly more high-end offerings and came with a retro-like design and a bunch of control wheels on the camera that provided the photographer additional access to features and functions. That being said, the folks at Fujirumors have heard from their sources that Fujifilm is expected to be announcing an upgrade over the X-T1. This announcement has been rumored to take place as early as July, which is a little odd given that the X-T1 is still relatively new, but apparently the upgrade will be a minor one, so it’s not like Fujifilm will be introducing an entirely new model. According to their source, the new model could be known as the Fujifilm X-T1P. The main difference here would be the viewfinder, which will be getting an upgrade to 4.0k, versus the current model which is 2.36k. It appears that this is the extent of the upgrade, or at least what we know about it so far.
