You can still remove the Galaxy S6’s battery if you try hard enough

One of the biggest complaints people have with the Galaxy S6 is that there’s no way to swap out the battery as easily as its predecessors. The reason for this is that previous devices in the Galaxy S line had plastic backs that could easily be removed which allowed users to access the battery directly. This isn’t the case with the Galaxy S6 and, while removing the battery is still possible, it isn’t nearly as easy as previous Samsung flagships.

If there is one downside to the beautiful metal and glass unibody build of the Galaxy S6 it’s the fact that the battery can not be swapped as easily as one would on previous Galaxy S smartphones. That’s because the latest flagship’s predecessors were made out of plastic and had easily removable backs which offered direct access to the battery. The battery on the Galaxy S6 can be removed but it’s not as easy as before, meaning that you can’t possibly do it on the fly. The instruction manual that Samsung has put up for the Galaxy S6 actually contains instructions on page 138 on how to remove the battery if required. The company does warn that the procedure only be done by “your service provider or authorized repair agent.” Since it involves cracking open this device it goes without saying that doing this procedure on your own would probably void the warranty. Besides, it’s not like you can swap out the pack with a fully charged one on the go, this procedure will come in handy if something goes wrong with the battery.
