That was fast. After Microsoft announced the Xbox One is going to get Blu-ray 3D support in an update soon, Sony’s PlayStation Europe arm has responded by finally revealing the same feature is coming to the PS4. There’s no word yet on any other other home theater related features we’d love to see make the jump from PS3 to PS4, but software update 1.75 is the one we’re looking forward to. It’s hard to say which is the bigger coincidence, that this feature is confirmed just days after the XB1 or that it comes as we’re finding out about the PSN outage settlement. The introduction of firmware has certainly helped hardware maintain a longer shelf life in the market, and we are all extremely excited at the next firmware update for thePS4 which will weigh in at version 1.75, which will see the addition of 3D Blu-ray support. The Sony PS4 firmware 1.75 is tipped to be released sometime next week according to the tweet that you can see above, and to be able to enjoy 3D Blu-ray playback in the comfort of your own home is definitely something that is worth looking forward to. Are you excited with this particular development, or do you use your PS4 mainly for playing games instead of watching movies? Perhaps this development with firmware 1.75 might see an increase in 3D Blu-ray movies for studios. As it stands at the moment, most folks would still use their Sony PS4 primarily for gaming purposes.
