LG’s homemade NUCLUN chip was a failure by all accounts and has powered only a handful of smartphones. Undeterred, the South Korean company is reportedly looking to give things another shot with a 64-bit piece of hardware that’s supposed to be on par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 and Samsung’s Exynos 7420.

While Samsung’s Exynos business seems to be gaining a lot of grip, LG is apparently not giving up on the idea of building in-house processors either. Sadly though, LG’s first attempt at creating its own chipset didn’t work out too well and we all know the disappointment that followed NUCLUN’s debut last year. However, a new report from Korea suggests that despite the failure experienced with the NUCLUN, LG is still planning on becoming a noteworthy player in the AP market. Allegedly, the Korean tech giant is now working on a new high-end chip, which seems to employ ARM’s recently announced Cortex-A72 CPU.
