Microsoft’s new app is all about tracking the location of friends

52 sec read

There are plenty off apps out there that let you find out where your friends are at any given moment, such as Waze or even Facebook Messenger, but Microsoft wants to make an official app for that on Windows Phone. Known as “People Sense,” the new app will use Bing Maps and the Windows Phone messaging features to give users real-time updates on the locations of their friends.

If you’re ever curious where your friends are—either because you’re genuinely concerned as to why a buddy is a few minutes late to a coffee meetup, or because you want to cyber-stalk their every moment—you don’t really have many options with Windows Phone. In fact, we can’t think of any native to the phone itself. There’s no “Find my Windows Phone” feature a la Apple and its iPhones, which means you’ll have to resort to the tried-and-true method of texting to see where your friends are and what they’re up to. However, Microsoft is also looking to solve this problem on its own. According to new reports, the company is allegedly working on a brand-new app called “People Sense.” The app, which will tie together Bing Maps and Windows Phones’ messaging features, will give a person real-time updates as to where their friends happen to be. You’ll also be able to use the app to pull up directions to a friend’s whereabouts and message or call them to let them know that you’re on the way.
