There’s no longer any difference between Apple’s website and its online retail store because the company has decided to merge the two in order to create a completely redesigned Apple.com. The previous Apple website contained numerous links to Apple’s online retail store, but now the store has been completely integrated into the website in an attempt to consolidate and make things more simple for users.

Apple’s longstanding online retail site is technically no more. The Cupertino tech giant officially eliminated its standalone retail site with the URL store.apple.com, Mashable has learned, and integrated the shopping experience directly into Apple’s main web site, Apple.com. Apple confirmed the move to Mashable. “We redesigned Apple.com knowing that our customers want to explore, research and shop in one place,” an Apple spokesperson told Mashable in a statement. “The new Apple.com takes the very best of our existing site and our online store to give customers one simple destination to learn and buy without navigating between two different sites.” Apple’s online retail experience, which sees over 1 billion shoppers pass through annually, was previously a separate site Apple shuttled shoppers to once they clicked shortcuts on Apple.com like the “Store” button on the company homepage. With Apple’s redesigned site however, the “Store” button on the upper-left hand side of the homepage, was eliminated.
