Apple is inching ever closer to making artificial intelligence a regular occurrence in the workplace. In September, the company will release software updates that further allow businesses to control how their employees utilise AI. One of the main features is that one can configure ChatGPT by OpenAI as an Enterprise. This is notable since ChatGPT is already being used in business on a large scale, with over $5 million in customers who use ChatGPT to provide the connection between AI and their internal data.
What is also interesting about Apple’s approach is its flexibility. Apple is not forcing companies to choose ChatGPT, but instead grants IT administrators latitude in choosing external AI-based tools employees may use. That gives Apple the chance to add other major AI providers in the future without the need to redesign the systems. It reveals that Apple is long-term oriented and prepares to serve many needs of AI in the enterprise.
Another essential information is the equilibrium between cloud and device computing. Apple is adamant about its Private Cloud Compute system, yet it is also aware that businesses require control over sensitive data passing. Companies now have control over whether AI requests remain in the gadget or shift to the cloud. This also makes it easy to turn off ChatGPT when necessary, as it will either connect to the Apple cloud or the ChatGPT service, not both simultaneously.
Besides AI improvements, Apple is also providing new enterprise tools. The API is new to bring integration to Apple Business Manager between IT systems, such as device management and help desks. Migration of devices will be simplified, which is helpful in the stipulation of a merger or acquisition.
Apple is also enhancing its Return to Service capability, which will allow its devices to be reset by initializing them for new users without removing applications, thereby saving time and reducing bandwidth consumption. This will also be offered on Vision Pro devices.
On shared Macs, Apple is introducing an authenticated Guest Mode that can delete their data at logout but stores their apps. Businesses, too, will be able to add NFC readers to allow employees to log on with a simple tap of their phone or watch.
All in all, these developments emphasize the fact that Apple developed a strategy of integrating potent AI with robust enterprise management capabilities. Not only will the company be introducing the usage of AI, but it will also be empowering businesses themselves to use it in ways that suit them.
