It looks like the United States is getting a bit cramped for AT&T. Back in November, AT&T acquired Mexican carrier Iusacell for $2.5 billion, and now the carrier is at it again with its recent acquisition of Nextel Mexico. Instead of solely being subject to regulatory approval by Mexico’s telecom regulator, Instituto Federal de Telecommunicaciones, the deal, worth $1.875 billion, is also subject to a bankruptcy auction and approvals by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Even so, AT&T expects the transaction to close in mid-2015.
