Earlier this week, Blizzard announced on its website that it’s looking to hire some new software engineers, not to design a new game, but to restore some old ones to glory. According to the job description, the company wants to make games like Diablo II, StarCraft, and WarCraft 3 work better on modern operating systems, possibly upgrading their visuals, and even bringing them over to consoles or mobile devices. The best part, however, is the fact that Blizzard may also be interested in adding modern multiplayer features to these games.

Some of Blizzard’s classics could be coming back, either in the capacity of being playable again on PC or mobile devices or maybe even home consoles. One thing is for sure, Blizzard is resurrecting classics such as Diablo 2, StarCraft and the game that helped spawn the new genre that dominates gaming at the moment: WarCraft 3. A thread on NeoGaf points to a post on Blizzard’s website where they’re hiring senior software engineers to handle resurrecting some of Blizzard’s classics, including Diablo 2, StarCraft and WarCraft 3. The page for the job description states: “Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replayability. Qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their day. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation. We’re restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done.”
