With the increasing demand for AI, Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has strongly invested in artificial intelligence through new infrastructure. Meta has spent up to $27 billion on AI-related infrastructure from Nebius Group NV, based on a statement from the company.

Based on the agreement between Nebius and Meta, Nebius will supply Meta with $12 billion worth of dedicated AI infrastructure capacity beginning in early 2027. Furthermore, Meta will purchase an extra $15 billion of capacity from Nebius’ broader cloud operations.

This is Meta’s largest single contract deal for cloud and data centre services, demonstrating how important AI has become for the company. Further, Meta encouraged that building and training advanced AI be within the company’s major plan.

Recently, it was also stated that Meta has been involved in multi-billion-dollar collaborations with well-known chipmakers such as NVIDIA Corporation and Advanced Micro Devices.

Tech analysts have further stated that investment in large centres, especially related to infrastructure, has massively grown due to high demand for AI services. Based on current analysis, the largest cloud and AI players have invested more than $650 billion in 2026 on facilities and equipment to support next‑generation AI applications.

Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, previously demonstrated that the company will invest up to $600 billion in U.S. infrastructure projects by 2028 to level up AI.

Nebius’ headquarters in Amsterdam grew after moving apart from the Russian internet company Yandex in 2024. This company focuses on building data centres specifically optimised for AI training models, often referred to as “neocloud”. Furthermore, its agreement with chip manufacturers has assisted in competing with large cloud providers such as Google LLC and Amazon.com Inc.

Last week, NVIDIA also stated they have made a $2 billion investment in Nebius, boosting the company’s stock.
