MovieTickets.com’s new system that only requires theater staff to take a look at your phone before letting you in. Using Bytemark’s V3 tech, purchases have security features like animated watermarks, touch animations and color changes to keep the counterfeiters at bay.
Lining up to get the movie ticket on your smartphone scanned could soon be a thing of the past, as Movietickets.com is introducing a mobile ticketing system that requires little more than a passing glance. Instead of scanning phone screens, attendants will simply look at the phone’s screen to identify security markers. Those markers would change for every screening, and include animations, watermarks and color changes, according to a press release issued Monday. The smartphone tickets will also have a virtual “tear” feature, so visitors can use their phones as stubs. Movietickets.com expects to pilot the technology before the end of the year. Movietickets.com teamed up with mobile ticketing company Bytemark to develop the tickets, using Bytemark’s V3 (visually verifiable virtual tickets) technology. NY Waterway ferries and the South Shore line in Chicago both use the V3 system.
