Have you ever wanted to watch Netflix on a NES? No? Well who cares, the company has created a version of the Netflix app that runs on an original, unmodified NES and actually comes with some of the service’s key features. What better show to demonstrate this achievement with than Netflix’s own House of Cards too?!

Netflix now runs on an unmodified NES. For Netflix’s Hack Day, employees Guy Cirino, Alex Wolfe, and Carenina Motion created a version of the Netflix app that runs on the original Nintendo Entertainment System and features a number of Netflix’s key features, including the ability to scroll between films and television shows, load synopses and images, and playback media. As an example, Cirino and Wolfe played the intro to House of Cards. Obviously this a fun experiment, something that almost certainly won’t be released for regular Netflix users. Though I am curious if this app actually streams content. And if so, did the engineers use a custom modem or did they happen to have a classic Teleplay Modem on hand?
