As Omate’s TrueSmart cellular watch approaches its first anniversary, the startup decided to let its previous Kickstarter backers in on its next project. According to the teaser update, September 1st will see the launch of a fashion-oriented wearable dubbed the Omate X, which features a sleeker metallic design and a removable 22mm genuine leather strap. The catch is that unlike the Android-powered TrueSmart, the Omate X functions as a notification companion à la Pebble, which in return offers a battery life of up to a week.

It was earlier this morning that we brought you word on the next Omate smartwatch which will target fashionistas, and apparently the Omate X just been announced officially. What kind of vision or image does the Omate X want to project for its wearer? Well, it will target those who love an updated wardrobe every single season, while telling the time – in style, of course, nothing less will do. The Omate X has been described to be “more than a Smartwatch, the Omate X is a fashion statement.” It basically intends for the wearer to enjoy the perks of a companion smartwatch, all without having to have it look like an unwieldy device on the side of your wrist. Specially designed to push your notifications from your smartphone over to the Omate X itself via Bluetooth, it will play nice with both iOS and Android-powered smartphones. Notifications that are pushed include incoming calls, social media updates, messages, and reminders, among others.
