Skype is currently testing a “new experience” for PC users

1 min read

The folks over at Microsoft, who happen to own Skype just in case you were hiding under a rock for the past three years, has just announced that they have kicked off a new round of testing for a new user interface when it comes to the Windows desktop as well as Mac Skype desktop clients. In fact, the Skype team had been hard at work for close to a year and half, developing various new interfaces for the Windows 8, iOS and Android versions. Considering their work for this season has come to an end, it is time to pay more attention to the desktop clients and see if there is anything else which can be improved.

When we launched Skype for Windows 8 back in October 2012, we set out on a journey to deliver a modern Skype experience designed for today’s communication needs. The journey continued onto different platforms, including Windows Phoneand Android, and the time has come to turn our attention to the Skype desktop clients. With this in mind, we recently started testing a refreshed UI on a small portion of Windows desktop users. And soon, some Skype for Mac users will see the new experience, too. The new UI aims to bring a clean and modern look to Skype, providing you with a delightful and coherent experience across all clients. We’ll be analyzing test results, gathering feedback, and fine-tuning the experience before releasing to our entire user base. Stay tuned for more updates on the effort. At Skype, we are first and foremost focused on the consumer and are always listening to your feedback. To share your feedback or to get the latest news and tips, please follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and join us on the Skype Community.
